poppy seed, sunflower bread - recipe

I  baked a poppy & sunflower bread for  lovely guests we had.
Having nice guests onboard makes life wonderful ...sad to see them all go.
They loved the poppy & sunflower bread so much ,  I had to share my recipe with all of you as well -

Poppy & Sunflower bread

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups flour **(If you want to make a Gluten free bead substitute the wheat flour to GF flour). I have baked numerous GF breads and the flour that always works for me is (KINGS ARTHUR FLOUR) .

  • 1 packet active dry yeast ( I did not use Levina , my sourdough starter this time)

  •   1 cup water (luke warm) -mix the active dry yeast with water . stir and leave for a few minutes.

  •  1 tsp. honey (you can also substitute it with sugar, maple syrup, coconut sugar )

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 3 tablespoon sunflower seeds (you use any type of seeds to your liking )

  • 3 tablespoon poppy seeds
-heat the oven 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

-add the flour in a mixing bowl (or place the flour in the middle of a work surface and create a "well").   Add the liquid ingredients, such as water  to the well; then mix the flour and the liquid ingredients gradually, drawing the flour from the inside walls of the well.

-Kneading for 10-12 minutes by hand or 8-10 minutes in a mixer.  how to tell when the dough is reading after kneading it :

  1. The dough looks 'smooth'
  2. it holds its 'shape'
  3. the poke test- Give that ball of dough a firm poke with your finger. If the indentation fills back quickly, you're good to go. If it stays looking like a deep dimple, continue kneading.
  4. the windowpane test. you might be asking what is that ? Pull off ball-sized piece of dough and stretch it into a thin sheet between your fingers .If the gluten is well-developed, the dough will stretch into a paper-thin film without breaking. If quickly breaks...keep kneading.

-once you have finished kneading the dough let it to proof for 30 minutes.

-spray the bread tin and place the dough inside it. Bake for 40-50 min .

-nothing better than home baked bread.

                                                                   Enjoy!
