Have you heard of SAN ANDRES and PROVIDENCIA?

These two islands are situated off Nicaragua and part of Columbia . It used to belong to Britain. The language spoken at these islands are Creole, Spanish and English.

For provisioning your best bet will be San Andres , however  there are shops at Providencia , but are smaller with not a large variety of produce .

We first arrived at Isla de Providencia and spent  the day exploring -the girls and I went ashore  and  zipped ( if you can call it that !) around the island in a buggy . That zip around the island took an hour. It's a very beautiful green, lush island . Friendly locals.  And surprisingly a lot to see and do! ( it is a really small island)

The big Octopus monument....wonder if he predicted the soccer  ;)
beautiful untouched Isla de Providencia...

What a great start to the morning -waking up to a view like this ...
Calm anchorage .Big mountains

The diving at this island is very good  - both the crew (lucky ones) and the guests were very happy with the dive here ...the vis was good and they saw a lot of sea life.

After spending a great time at Isla de Providencia it was time to head to San Andres which was 60 miles away . Arrived there early the next morning . San Andres being a bigger island have more things to do and provisioning was better.

Need to fill those cupboards and fridges ??
lets go .... provisioning ....

  •     Tienda Tachi
        Super Exito supermarket
  • Food Place (Sector Proveedoras)
  • Supermercado Super Todo

To name a few.  You will pretty much get everything you need.  The produce were not excellent
but I manage to find what I need and made do with what I have....isn't that what us Chefs do?

What to do when in San Andreas ?

  • Scuba Diving
  • Sightseeing

The Hill is the  highest point on the island, which offers panoramic views of San Andres Bay.  Morgan's Cave  have been used by the infamous pirate, Henry Morgan, to hide his treasure.....and we did not find it...... There is also a sea water geyser - El Hoyo Suplador

All in all a stop well worth it.  and a bit off the beaten track....

Next stop?   WHo knows.  Captain has not told us yet and on this trip.... "me-no-do-watches"

a few more foodie pics....
